20 Feb Camden Skills Centre
As part of Adept Contracts Ltd’s work on HS2, we helped design and construct Camden Construction Skills Centre. This new community-based skills centre in Euston, North London, focuses on teaching the practical skills local residents need to work in the construction industry.
Adept Contracts Ltd provided detailed design and installation of a 60-minute insulation and integrity fire-rated boarded ceiling and structural steel beam encasement to provide the required fire strategy compartmentalisation.
Our Project Manager, Adam Wojtach said, “This was a super interesting job as it was a modular build. Adept Contracts Ltd’s whole team collaborated well with the mechanical and electrical teams to ensure it was a well-coordinated design. We purchased a vertical panel saw to make precise cuts of sheets of Promat Supalux needed for the board system, which not only benefitted the programme, but also reduced waste and instilled H&S betterment.”
“We also undertook some external cladding works for our client, Premier Modular, who were contracted by the principal contractor Mace Dragados as part of the Euston HS2 works. To see our work showcased in the Skills Centre is very satisfying. I’m grateful to our construction team for delivering such a high-quality finish on a fast-paced project.”
Camden Council officially launched the Centre in 2024, which is part of the government assurance to help protect the lives and livelihoods of our residents and businesses from the impact of HS2 construction. The Skills Centre is a really practical space with classrooms, CSCS test centre, a dedicated workshop space that includes specialist machinery rooms, and an outside training area where students learn practical skills as part of their qualification.
